6 November 2019
At the beginning of the year I thought I would keep track of all the books I have read (or listened to). Regrettably, for most of May, June, July, August and September, I forgot! Yes, I forgot. I have listened to so many great stories this year, but I cannot name them all.
I am participating in a Romance Audiobook Challenge – and I am running so far behind! The idea of the challenge is to find new authors, or sub-genres, to listen to. I found far, far, too many. I have been distracted by listening to more books by most of the authors I discovered. So, as of this moment, I still have 13 out of 42 authors books to listen to. This by the end of November! I really want to try and finish this challenge as romance is my genre – I love it, in most of its many forms.
I am taken aback by how one idea can be found in so many stories, and yet, they all go in a different way. The complexity of romance stories astounds me even more. They are rarely just boy meets girls, they fall in love and live happily ever after. There is always something else – a murder, intrigue, something paranormal or otherworldly and this is what makes romance stand out for me. These authors are so talented.
So, the authors for this challenge:
Nora Roberts; Laurann Dohner; A.L. Jackson; Kristen Proby; Abbi Glines; Kristen Ashley; Cassia Leo; Marie Force; Corinne Michaels; Sawyer Bennett; Mia Sheridan; Lisa Renee Jones; Scott Hildreth; Maya Banks; Ilona Andrews; Susan Mallery; S.E. Smith; R. S. Grey; Rachel Van Dyken; Samantha Young; Gena Showalter; Elle Kennedy; Jennifer Ashley; Penny Reid; Robyn Carr; Catherine Coulter; Stephanie Laurens; JA Huss; Shayla Black; Lauren Dane; Laura Kaye; Linda Howard; Alessandra Torres; Colleen Hoover; Denise Grover Swank; Diane Chamberlain; K. A. Tucker; Ella Frank; Amy Harmon; Jaci Burton; Kelley Armstrong; Lori Foster
I had previously listened to nine of these authors, but found new books to listen to as part of the challenge. This means that just from this challenge, I will have listened to 33 new authors! Of course in between all of this, there are books to read for reviews or blog tours, proofreading, proof listening and so on. And there are always times when you need to read something familiar, so I re-listened to some of my most favoured series during this time. All in all, LOTS of listening!
My GoodReads challenge this year was 100 books. I have completed that one.
If I see the list that I started at the beginning of the year, I have recorded that I have listened to 50 days’ worth of audiobooks – those are 24 hour days. WOW!
I am so privileged to have access to audiobooks – they lighten my life.
